Julie Pershing : The Writer Experience

I got involved in writing and publishing because I am fascinated with people's stories. I think that it's really important to share your story because even though you might think that it's not gonna affect anyone because it's only you that went through it but there's always someone out there that can empathize with you and something that you've gone through and came out on the other side, that's going to help someone else and a lot of the stories that people have if you don't share them then nobody is going to know that that happened and even family stories that are handed down over generations, they are just such important stories and that's what creates your family dynamic so I think it's super important to share your stories to leave a legacy and to help other people.

What excites you most about participating in the 40 Over 40 Project?

I’m an author and a book writing coach. I help people share their stories, and I feel like that is what you’re doing with your photography. I love the idea of telling stories through pictures, and showcasing women who might not feel “seen”. There are so many talented women who have become successful after age 40, I would be so honored and excited to be included.

Advice I would give my younger self:

Go out and do things I enjoy and don't be such a people pleaser and don't get caught up in things because I think that's the path I should be on. Do more travel and education and fun things when I was younger and get serious about relationships when I got older.
